Lionel Messi – The FIFA Player of the year 2009
Finally, a award that everyone has been waiting for a long time. Lionel Messi has won the FIFA Player of the year 2009 award tonight at Zurich. An award which will make him the first Argentine to win the awards.
Lionel Messi who was third in 2007, then came second in 2008 and now hit the jackpot in 2009, which truely shows the progress that Lionel Messi have made in this last three years and also not to forget that he is just 22 years old.
Lionel Messi was also selected for the FIFPro World XI with 4 Barcelona players finding a place in the FIFPro World XI team. Iniesta, Xavi and Dani Alves were the other Barcelona player who were also a part of FIFPro World XI team.
A great night for Messi and Barcelona fans, who would be proud after what Barcelona have achieve this year and would be ready for an another great year.

Shaktar special opponent for Messi
The finals of European Super Cup is going to be special for Messi, as its a title that Messi have never won and also Messi made his European debut against Shaktar, tough Messi was in the reserve seat, but was part of the first team. Barcelona lost their match against them,
It was very cold and we lost. I remember that a lot of reserve team players made their debuts that day.
But last year, Messi showed them who is the boss 
, scoring two important goal for Barcelona.
We won that match and I was able to score two goals right at the last minute when the match was finishing.
Messi also believe that Shaktar are not an easy opponent,
It gave us food for thought because the match turned complicated. People thought it would be easy, a formality. We know that matches of this importance are never easy. We learned a good lesson that day – not to let it happen again.
Barcelona will be playing against Shaktar on 28th August. Hopefully Barcelona will be playing with their strongest team and lift another cup. No other player have ever won European Super Cup except Dani Alves, who won with Sevilla against Barcelona
