Lionel Messi – The FIFA Player of the year 2009
Finally, a award that everyone has been waiting for a long time. Lionel Messi has won the FIFA Player of the year 2009 award tonight at Zurich. An award which will make him the first Argentine to win the awards.
Lionel Messi who was third in 2007, then came second in 2008 and now hit the jackpot in 2009, which truely shows the progress that Lionel Messi have made in this last three years and also not to forget that he is just 22 years old.
Lionel Messi was also selected for the FIFPro World XI with 4 Barcelona players finding a place in the FIFPro World XI team. Iniesta, Xavi and Dani Alves were the other Barcelona player who were also a part of FIFPro World XI team.
A great night for Messi and Barcelona fans, who would be proud after what Barcelona have achieve this year and would be ready for an another great year.

Barcelona dominated yet another award ceremony. LFP, La Liga Award held on Monday at Madrid. LFP announced the top performers for the season 2008-2009. Barcelona players were won seven out of nine category.
Messi was the highlight of the night in the award ceremony, who received two important award. The Best Player and Best Striker for the season 2008-2009. Messi have won every awards wherever he has been nominated this year and many more still to come. Messi will be very happy at the moment and hopefully two awards will boost his moral and confidence and we can see him scoring more goals.

Lionel Messi is ready for another awards. Messi have been nominated for the best players awards in last season’s Champions League tournament. Messi along with 5 other Barcelona players have been nominated for the awards.
Valdes, Pique, Xavi, Iniesta and Eto’o are also nominated for goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and attacker.
Messi , Eto’o and Ronaldo are nominated for attacker. Messi being the top scorer will definately take the title.
The winners will be announced on August 27 at the Forum Grimaldo in Monaco during the ceremony for the group phase draw for the 2009-10 campaign.

What an amazing performance from Barcelona, you can only say wow for all these brilliant performance they have given us all these season. Pep Guardiola can really suprise you with his squad selection and you cannot argue with that, Barcelona didnt required Messi for this match as it was all over in the first half itself and he will be having Messi fit for match against Valencia.
Barcelona scored 4 goals, shared by Iniesta, Xavi, Eto’o and Henry. Barcelona have taken the three points and will be looking to perform same way with Valencia too.

I dont have to say it or shout it when it comes to say about Messi forms this season. An amazing 32 goal this season, which is the best tally of his career and he still have plenty of matches to go.
Barcelona steps towards Rome will depends a lot of the performance of Messi and also others players. Everyone in the team seems to be up for it this season.
Messi is going to be unstoppable this season and he has proved that time and time again in this season.
His former team mate Deco says
I think Barca have an advantage as they have Messi, He’s a player who can make the difference more than all the others.
At the moment, Leo is almost impossible to stop on his day. He is an incredible player and if he is on form, we can only wait and see who has the ability to stop him.
Xavi told the Blues:

Every time we see Messi he shows something new, something better. It is very important to have him in the team. He is working very hard and he has an extraordinary talent. Right now, he is the best player in the world. When he is on his day, nothing can stop him.
Messi will not leave this opportunity to show the world, who is the best. Barcelona have never won semi-final when it comes to play against an English side. But this year seems to be different, there some new things which give me a vibes that this year Barcelona will have all three trophies and Messi is going to be the key player to get that for them.
Messi was considered below Ronaldo by Henry, but it doesnt seems so. Messi have reached a level where he can threat every team. I remember people saying, Lyon will distroy Barca, they were proved wrong in the First Half itself. Bayern will be stop Barca from proceeding, Messi showed them the way. Messi for me is the Best player in the world right now and there is no point in comparing who is best or who is not.
